Staff members of The Fiji Times and their families gathered in large numbers for a successful family fun day at Gospel Primary School in Samabula, Suva, last Saturday. The event featured a series of sporting competitions including soccer, touch rugby, volleyball, and netball, commencing with an invigorating Zumba session designed to energize participants for the day’s activities.
The organization was split into six colorful teams: black, white, yellow, blue, red, and orange, encompassing various departments such as production and IT, circulation and dispatch, finance, transport and maintenance, advertising, and the editorial department, which fielded two teams due to its size.
Throughout the day, adults showcased their athleticism and competitive spirit in various sports, revealing skills that are often hidden in their daily office routines. Children were also integral to the fun day, enjoying activities like apple eating, egg races, sack races, wheelbarrow races, and tug-of-war.
The event concluded with a delightful lunch, followed by a gathering at Café Noir, where staff celebrated the day’s achievements and recognized the winners of the sports competitions. The editorial white team, led by captain and photographer Eliki Nukutabu, took home the title of overall winners.
This family fun day not only fostered team spirit but also provided a joyous opportunity for colleagues and their families to bond outside the workplace. It highlights the importance of community and collaboration, reinforcing connections among staff members that can enhance teamwork back in the office.
Overall, this event serves as a reminder of the value of balancing work with recreation, emphasizing the benefits of engaging in group activities for morale and camaraderie.
