Fiji: Strong Wind Warning with Southeast Winds Up to 45km/h and Rough Seas Across Coastal Areas

Strong wind warning still in force for coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, plus the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

Situation: A high pressure system south of Fiji keeps the southeasterly breeze fresh to strong across the group. A trough of low pressure is lining up to approach from the northeast tomorrow, bringing cloud and showers mainly to the northern and eastern parts for the next few days.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
– For coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point and Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: Southeast winds with average speeds up to 45 km/h.
– For the rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times. Rough seas.

Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorm over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash-flooding of low-lying areas. Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Cool at night.

Outlook for Monday:
