As the year 2025 comes to a close, Fiji’s sports community is receiving heartfelt Christmas messages from two prominent leaders, encapsulating reflections on the past year and a hopeful outlook for the future.

Koli Sewabu, the newly elected chief executive officer of the Fiji Rugby Union, shared a message filled with gratitude and optimism. He acknowledged the various challenges faced throughout the year, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to addressing these issues head-on. “It’s been an exciting journey so far this year,” Sewabu commented, highlighting that Fiji Rugby is now better positioned to understand and tackle the obstacles ahead.

Looking towards 2026, Sewabu expressed excitement over the opportunities that the new year holds for Fiji Rugby. An essential part of his message was dedicated to appreciating the media, which he credited as vital partners in promoting rugby and conveying critical information to the public. “We know that rugby for us is not just a sport; it’s the heartbeat of our nation,” he remarked, revealing the deep cultural significance of the sport in Fiji.

Complementing Sewabu’s sentiments, Peter Mazey, Executive Chairman of the Fiji National Sports Commission, extended warm Christmas wishes to all Fijian athletes, sports officials, and administrators. He prayed for divine blessings upon young and aspiring sportspeople as they celebrate the festive season and prepare for a successful year ahead in 2026.

Mazey also took the opportunity to express gratitude for the unwavering support from all individuals who contributed to the sporting landscape throughout 2025. Together, these uplifting messages seek to inspire the Fijian sports community to reflect on the lessons learned over the past year, appreciate their support systems, and embrace the promise of a prosperous and blessed new year ahead.
