As Christmas approached, Onisimo Samoa faced financial uncertainty with little savings to celebrate the holidays. In a bold move to support his family, the 39-year-old entered a snooker tournament in Suva, hoping to turn his circumstances around.

Against formidable odds, Samoa triumphed in the final round, securing a $500 prize. Hailing from Dreketi, he viewed the tournament as a pivotal opportunity to provide for his loved ones. The night before, encouragement from his wife fueled his determination.

“Before I was about to leave home this morning, my wife told me that she needed me to win this competition, and she kept encouraging me until I left. I didn’t really expect to win, but what she told me really stuck with me throughout all my games, and I believe it motivated me, and I was able to win first place,” Samoa shared.

With the rising cost of living making it increasingly tough to save, Samoa feels that his win was more than just luck; he views it as a stroke of divine intervention. His success brings newfound hope, allowing his family to celebrate Christmas with joy and plans to return to his village of Nalase in Dreketi, where they can enjoy the festivities together.

This story serves as a reminder of how resilience and support can lead to unexpected breakthroughs, especially during trying times.
