More than 40 players are set to participate in the upcoming fourth edition of the Southern Division Billiards and Snooker Association’s open ranking tournament. Sponsored by Civil Construction Pte Limited, the event will gather competitors from across the country, promising an engaging showdown between seasoned players and new entrants.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Merchant Club on Butt Street in Suva, starting tomorrow and concluding on Sunday. David Ratnam, the association’s president, expressed gratitude towards the sponsors for their invaluable support.

Among the participants are some of Fiji’s top players, including the country’s top-ranked Sahil Prasad, along with other notable competitors like Jiten Prasad, Pritesh Kumar, Epeli Bua, and emerging talents such as Ropate Morrel, Sikeli Raikeve, Keresoni, Jasveer Singh, and Navneel Singh. Both Jasveer and Navneel hail from Nausori and are eager to showcase their skills at this prestigious event.

The tournament emphasizes the theme of promoting snooker among Fijian youth, aiming to inspire and nurture new talent in the sport. Esala Talebula currently holds the number one position for the association following three previously organized ranking tournaments.

Overall, the Southern Division Billiards and Snooker Association’s open ranking tournament not only seeks to showcase the talents of established players but also highlights the importance of fostering new talent and passion for snooker amongst the younger generation in Fiji.
