Fiji has earned the prestigious third spot on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel list for 2025. This list honors the top 30 countries, regions, and cities globally, selected by Lonely Planet’s team of travel experts.
Lonely Planet, a highly regarded travel publisher, has set the standard for insightful and practical travel guides for many years. Its comprehensive guidebooks and digital resources cover a wide range of countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, providing trusted recommendations for budget-conscious travelers. These resources include on-the-ground tips, immersive cultural experiences, and local insights that help visitors connect with the essence of each destination.
Brent Hill, the chief executive officer of Tourism Fiji, expressed his optimism regarding the recognition. “While our main focus is to ensure Fiji remains a premier destination for travelers, accolades like this are incredibly encouraging,” he stated. Hill emphasized that such recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of the entire tourism industry, including local businesses and hospitality professionals.
He added, “This recognition is a clear indication that we’re on the right track. However, it’s crucial to recognize that awards are secondary to our goal of ensuring sustainable growth in our industry and making sure that the economic benefits of tourism are felt by all Fijians.”
Hill highlighted the importance of maintaining competitiveness and investing in Fiji’s tourism sector to foster economic growth, support local businesses, and prioritize sustainability. “This is the momentum we need to build upon,” he concluded.
