Despite a setback in the Perth 7s final, where the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team faced defeat against South Africa, they maintain their position at the top of the overall HSBC SVNS Series standings. Under the leadership of coach Jerry Matana, the team has accumulated 70 points after participating in four tournaments.
South Africa trails closely behind with 66 points, just four points off the lead. New Zealand holds the third position with 62 points, while France and Australia follow in fourth and fifth places, respectively, both with 54 points. Argentina sits sixth with 36 points, and Great Britain is currently at the bottom of the table with 30 points.
In the women’s category, the Fijiana team is ranked seventh with 40 points, well ahead of Great Britain, who occupy the last position. New Zealand is in the lead with an impressive 78 points, followed closely by Australia at 74 points.
The next challenge for the teams will take place in Vancouver, Canada, on the 7th and 8th of next month, providing an opportunity for both the Fijian men’s and women’s teams to continue showcasing their skills and push for better standings as the series progresses.
