Fiji is ramping up initiatives to attract Australian outsourcing contracts, firmly establishing itself as a competitive nearshore destination at the Contact Centre Symposium 2025 in New South Wales. Representing the nation’s business process outsourcing sector, Outsource Fiji is targeting over 110 key decision-makers from Australia’s leading contact centre and customer experience companies.

Executive Director Josefa Wivou emphasizes the advantages of Fiji’s English-speaking workforce, compatibility with Australian time zones, and shared cultural values, positioning the island nation as an ideal partner for contact centre operations. This event provides a strategic platform for Fiji to showcase not only its traditional outsourcing capabilities, but also its plans to branch into knowledge process outsourcing and IT services.

Notably, in previous similar gatherings like the 10th anniversary of Customer Contact Week, Morika Hunter, the president of Outsource Fiji, highlighted Fiji’s resilience and growth amid challenges, reinforcing its status as a hub for high-quality, cost-effective customer engagement solutions. The potential for the outsourcing sector to drive economic empowerment, job creation, and innovation has remained a focal point in industry discussions.

The current three-day symposium is conducive for open dialogue among industry leaders, with discussions under Chatham House Rules allowing for candid exchanges of ideas. The overarching goal, as reiterated by Wivou, is to create specialized employment opportunities while ensuring long-term sustainability for the outsourcing sector in Fiji.

Reflecting on Fiji’s positive trajectory, there is a sense of optimism surrounding its outsourcing market, buoyed by continued government support and innovative strategies aimed at enhancing the capacity and appeal of the industry. As the symposium progresses, it offers a hopeful vision for Fiji’s future in the global outsourcing landscape, enhancing not only job creation but also the overall economic resilience of the nation.
