Taekwondo Fiji has announced plans to organize three significant tournaments next year, aimed at fostering consistency in training among young athletes. National coach Neelu Nand emphasized the importance of these events for athletes to demonstrate their capabilities in hopes of securing a position on the national team.

The scheduled tournaments are expected to take place during the first term school holiday, mid-year, and in December. Nand has urged major clubs to express interest in hosting these tournaments, with potential hosting likely coming from Civic Taekwondo, Nakasi, and Suva clubs.

Currently, nine clubs registered under Fiji Taekwondo include Civic, Suva, Master Ra, Nakasi, Nausori, Sawani, Ba, and Nadi. This initiative aims to attract more young participants, building on the 150 athletes who took part previously. The goal is to engage approximately 200 athletes in these upcoming events.

This initiative not only supports athletic development but also encourages community involvement in the sport, allowing young athletes to hone their skills and gain valuable experience on a competitive platform.

Summarizing, the upcoming tournaments present a promising opportunity for young taekwondo practitioners in Fiji, fostering talent development and sport engagement within the community. This could pave the way for a vibrant taekwondo culture in the country, inspiring future generations.
