The Fiji Rugby Union board unanimously supported the appointment of Koli Sewabu as the new chief executive officer, dispelling any rumors of discord among board members. The official announcement had initially been postponed, leading to speculation about potential disagreements, but board chairman John Sanday clarified that the delay was purely administrative.

“There was no disagreement,” Sanday stated, expressing confidence in Sewabu’s leadership potential. He emphasized the board’s unity and optimism about the organization’s future under Sewabu’s guidance.

The postponement was attributed to governance and procedural factors that needed to be addressed before the announcement could be made. Despite all assessments by Maxumise being completed and Sewabu receiving the highest score, logistical challenges arose from members being in different locations and unable to convene in time.

Sanday reassured stakeholders that the board was fully aligned on this decision, highlighting their collective belief in Sewabu’s capabilities to advance the organization. This strong backing reflects a positive vision for Fiji Rugby’s trajectory, pointing towards an encouraging phase for the sport in the nation.
