The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is taking significant steps to enhance its rugby expertise following the conclusion of its recruitment process for a new chief executive. In an effort to capitalize on the talent pool identified, the FRU plans to engage other shortlisted candidates in strategic capacities throughout the organization.

This initiative signifies FRU’s commitment to bolstering governance, technical skills, and institutional knowledge within the sport of rugby in Fiji. According to FRU board chair John Sanday, the recruitment process has unveiled a wealth of both local and international experience poised to contribute to the sustainable growth of Fiji Rugby.

“There were five candidates shortlisted, but only four were interviewed as one was unable to attend. We have engaged with the four and are keen to incorporate them into specific roles that leverage their strengths in the areas we need to enhance,” Sanday explained.

The shortlisted candidates have expressed a strong desire to continue their association with Fiji Rugby’s future, underscoring a community spirit. “We’re a family, and they’re all rugby people who want to be involved, and we want to involve them as much as possible,” Sanday added, reflecting the collective vision of collaboration within the organization.

As the FRU continues its pursuit of achieving tier-one status in rugby, these strategic moves are anticipated to foster growth and improve performance on both national and international stages, building on Fiji Rugby’s recent achievements and ambitions for the future.
