The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is taking significant steps to enhance its national and high-performance programs by advertising seven crucial positions as part of its preparation for upcoming international competitions. This initiative underscores FRU’s commitment to developing depth, refining performance pathways, and ensuring Fiji remains competitive on the global rugby stage.

Among the prominent positions available is the head coach for the Fiji U20 team, who will be tasked with leading this national side into an exciting new chapter of international rugby. Starting in 2026, Fiji will compete in the prestigious SANZAAR U20 Championship alongside formidable teams like New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Argentina, while also planning to return to the expanded World Rugby Junior U20 Championship.

To bolster the U20 program, FRU is also seeking to fill the roles of forwards coach and backs coach specifically for the Fiji U20 squad. These coaches will play a vital role in instilling technical, tactical, and performance standards among young players, helping them transition smoothly into elite and professional rugby spheres.

In the sevens rugby domain, the FRU has announced the opening for an assistant coach for the men’s 7s team, who will work closely with the squad aiming for gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This role presents an exciting opportunity within one of Fiji’s most celebrated and internationally recognized sports teams.

Additionally, the role of assistant coach for the Fijiana 7s team has also been advertised, focusing on guiding the women’s team toward a medal at the 2028 Olympic Games. In women’s XV rugby, FRU is searching for a head coach for both the Fijiana XV and Fijian Drua Women. This position is expected to lead the national team through a transformative phase, with ambitious goals of achieving a historic top eight finish at the 2029 Rugby World Cup in Australia and establishing Fiji firmly as a Tier 1 nation in women’s rugby.

Finally, the FRU is looking to appoint a senior leader to oversee the women’s high-performance program, focusing on integrating coaching, talent development, and high-performance systems to secure sustained success on the international stage.

This strategic move by the FRU highlights a hopeful vision for the future of Fiji rugby, with an emphasis on nurturing talent and achieving significant milestones on the world rugby map.
