The Fiji Residence rugby league team is set to take on Samoa in an exciting match tomorrow, which will serve as a curtain-raiser for the Vodafone Fiji Bati and Cook Islands Pacific Bowl showdown.
Former Fiji Bati star and current coach Vula Dakuitoga expressed his confidence in the team’s preparations, noting that they spent the past week in camp at Uprising in Navua, where they focused on enhancing their attack and defense strategies to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenge from Samoa.
Dakuitoga highlighted the significance of the upcoming match, anticipating intense competition between the two Pacific Island nations on the rugby league field. He described the match as one that promises to deliver excitement, stating, “This will be a fireworks match, it’s just two Pacific Islands meeting each other; it will be a great match.”
Acknowledging the strength of the Samoa team, he nonetheless expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to triumph. “Samoa will come in strong as we all know, they will be tough, but we won’t let them take the easy road; we will win this match,” he said.
In light of the recent disappointing performance by the Fiji Bati team, Dakuitoga urged fans and families to come out in large numbers to support all three teams: Fiji Residence, Fiji Bati, and Fiji Bulikula. He promised that the team is committed to delivering an exciting performance and securing a victory.
Additionally, the Fiji Residence team took time to engage with their community by visiting the Disability Centre in Suva, showcasing their dedication both on and off the field.
The match between Fiji Residents and Samoa Residents is scheduled for 3:50 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
