The Fiji Residence rugby league team is preparing for an exciting match against Samoa tomorrow, serving as a prelude to the Vodafone Fiji Bati and Cook Islands Pacific Bowl clash. Vula Dakuitoga, a former Fiji Bati star and the current coach of the Residence team, expressed confidence in their readiness for the game.
“The preparations are going well; the team has spent the last week in camp at Uprising in Navua, focusing on refining both our attacking and defensive strategies to ensure we are fully prepared to face Samoa,” Dakuitoga stated. He highlighted the significance of this match, noting the fierce competition typically seen when two Pacific Island nations compete in rugby league.
“This will be a thrilling match; it’s the excitement of two Pacific Islands coming together, and I anticipate it will be a great showdown,” he added. While acknowledging the strength of the Samoa team, Dakuitoga is optimistic that his squad is capable of clinching a victory.
“Samoa is going to come in strong, as we all know they will be tough, but we are not going to make it easy for them. We intend to win this match,” he affirmed.
In an effort to galvanize support from fans and families, especially following the Fiji Bati team’s disappointing results last weekend, Dakuitoga encouraged everyone to come out in large numbers to cheer for all three teams: Fiji Residence, Fiji Bati, and Fiji Bulikula. He assured that the team is committed to delivering an impressive performance and securing a win in the upcoming encounter.
Additionally, the team made time to give back to the community by visiting the Disability Centre in Suva yesterday, demonstrating their commitment both on and off the field. The match between Fiji Residents and Samoa Residents is scheduled for 3:50 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
