Fiji is actively seeking to enhance its renewable energy transition at a global forum taking place in Abu Dhabi. Naisa Tuinaceva, the Assistant Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport, is representing the nation at the 16th International Renewable Energy Assembly. The assembly operates under the theme “Powering Humanity: Renewable Energy for Shared Prosperity,” which aligns well with Fiji’s goals.

During a recent bilateral meeting with the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Tuinaceva received reaffirmations of IRENA’s commitment to supporting Fiji’s energy initiatives. He emphasized the particular challenges that Small Island Developing States face and outlined the proactive measures that Fiji is implementing to broaden its renewable energy portfolio and lessen dependence on fossil fuels.

The assembly serves as a significant gathering of global leaders and energy experts, fostering collaboration and promoting clean energy solutions that could help combat the pressing issues of climate change while supporting economic growth. Through these international partnerships and dialogues, Fiji aims to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector, demonstrating a positive commitment to sustainable development and a greener future.
