The Public Service Commission has initiated a significant reshuffle within the ranks of Permanent Secretaries, with key moves across various ministries approved by the Prime Minister. This strategic realignment aims to enhance the efficiency of public service management.
Peni Sikivou has been appointed as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Business Development, effective January 5, 2026. He steps into this role following the completion of Shaheen Ali’s contract and is expected to serve for a maximum of four months until a permanent replacement is appointed.
In another notable change, Selina Kuruleca, the Permanent Secretary for Justice, will take on additional responsibilities as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Women, Children, and Social Protection on a part-time basis. This appointment will take effect on January 19, as she continues to fulfill her primary role.
Furthermore, Atelaite Rokosuka, currently the Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry, will transition to lead the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service starting January 12. Eseta Nadakuitavuki will also transition, moving from her position in Women, Children, and Social Protection to become the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information on January 19.
This strategic reshuffle reflects the government’s commitment to optimizing leadership within the public service sector, ensuring that experienced individuals are at the helm as Fiji navigates its developmental goals.
