The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to finalize and launch Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, which will establish the framework and pathway for advancing Fiji’s strategic interests and goals.

This important development was highlighted by the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua, in response to the 2024-2025 National Budget.

Qereqeretabua stated that the policy will be guided by the pillars of sovereignty, security, and prosperity. She emphasized that the document will be grounded in Fiji’s contexts, values, and aspirations.

With a budget allocation of $43.8 million, Qereqeretabua noted that the Ministry will pursue Fiji’s foreign policy objectives, a mandate that requires adaptability and a culture of continuous learning with efficient systems and processes.

“This approach also involves investing in our workforce, systems, and infrastructure to build our capability,” she said.
