In response to a surge in livestock thefts, the Fiji Police Force is intensifying their vigilance, particularly during the challenging weather conditions currently being experienced. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has indicated that there has been an increase in complaints regarding livestock theft, with criminals likely to exploit the adverse weather for their opportunistic activities.

To combat this issue, police officers are actively engaging in Community Policing Visits during the festive season and are offering guidance to community members on how to properly care for their livestock. ACP Driu emphasizes the importance for locals to secure their animals before the weather deteriorates further or night falls.

He urges community members to help each other by staying alert and report any suspicious activities. This cooperative approach not only enhances security for livestock but also fosters a sense of community and collective responsibility during these challenging times.

This proactive stance by the Fiji Police not only aims to safeguard livestock but also encourages community cohesion, reminding everyone that during times of hardship, looking out for one another can make a significant difference.
