In response to an increase in livestock thefts, the Fiji Police Force has ramped up its vigilance, particularly during the challenging weather conditions. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported a surge in complaints regarding the theft of livestock and warned that thieves may exploit the current adverse weather.
To combat this issue, police officers are actively engaging in Community Policing Initiatives throughout the festive season. They are advising community members to take responsibility for their livestock, ensuring they are secured properly, especially as weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further.
ACP Driu emphasized the importance of community collaboration, urging everyone to not only safeguard their own animals but also look out for their neighbors’ livestock. This call for vigilance reflects a proactive approach to maintaining safety and security within the community.
This initiative highlights the importance of community solidarity during difficult times. By working together, residents can help protect their assets and deter crime, fostering a sense of safety and shared responsibility.
By focusing on prevention and encouraging community involvement, the police aim not just to address the thefts but also to strengthen the relationships within the community, promoting a safer environment for all.
