The Fiji Police Force celebrated a significant milestone during its recent passing-out parade, which was especially momentous for Constable Steven Bolaitamana. At just 25 years old, Bolaitamana was honored with the prestigious Baton of Honour, awarded to the best overall recruit of the course. This accolade is not only a testament to his hard work and dedication but also a reflection of a proud family legacy; his father had previously received the same honor.

Hailing from Yaroi, Moala, Lau, with familial ties to Kororerega, Vaturova, Cakadrove, Bolaitamana described the achievement as deeply meaningful. Having grown up observing his father’s commitment to service in the Fiji Police, the Territorial Force of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, and as a corrections officer, he was inspired to follow in his footsteps.

Throughout his training, which he acknowledged was both mentally and physically demanding, Bolaitamana emphasized the importance of discipline. He believes that while discipline may seem straightforward, it is essential for delivering duties with excellence, integrity, and professionalism. Realizing his childhood dream of joining the police force is a milestone he cherishes greatly, and he looks forward to contributing positively to both his community and the force.

Bolaitamana’s achievement serves as an inspiration for many, illustrating the impact of dedication and family legacy in pursuing a career in public service. His story is a reminder of the values of hard work and commitment that underpin the Fiji Police Force.
