Fiji on Alert: Health Ministry Addresses Mpox Concerns

The Health Ministry has announced that there are currently no confirmed cases of Mpox in Fiji.

In a statement released this evening, the ministry indicated that laboratory testing for suspected Mpox cases can be conducted at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

The ministry urges anyone who develops a fever, body aches, and a blistering rash after international travel to seek medical attention promptly.

Mpox is classified as a nationally notifiable disease, and the ministry is reminding healthcare professionals of the importance of early reporting to help prevent and manage potential outbreaks.

Furthermore, the ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely, maintain surveillance for early case detection, and collaborate with the World Health Organization and partner agencies to adjust its response as necessary in light of any new developments.
