The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will resume its reconciliation and restoration program Phase 2 early next year, which aims to focus on community outreach and healing. This phase aims to raise awareness of reconciliation in communities that were affected by past coups.
Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, the Commander of the RFMF, emphasized the importance of this initiative as a way to restore trust within the community. “Phase 2 will involve visits to communities, where we will engage in dialogue, listen to personal stories of resilience, and work towards institutional reconciliation,” he stated.
Major-General Kalouniwai highlighted that this phase represents a significant opportunity for the institution to not only heal but also to sincerely apologize to the Fijian people. According to him, fostering a genuine connection with communities will play a critical role in rebuilding trust between the RFMF and the citizens of Fiji.
