A 27-year-old man has been charged by the Fiji Police M-PAiSA task force for allegedly deceiving two individuals in a financial scam. It is reported that between August and September, he collected a total of $150 from the victims for items he advertised for sale on Facebook but failed to deliver.
He faces two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and is set to appear at the Nadi Magistrates Court.
This case highlights the growing concern over online scams and the importance of verifying sellers before making purchases on social media platforms. Law enforcement agencies are taking a stand against such fraudulent activities, signaling a commitment to protecting consumers. The judicial process will take its course, and it is hoped that this case serves as a warning to potential scammers and reassures the public about the importance of cautious online transactions.
