The Fiji Kulas, under coach Angeline Chua, are gearing up for vital international competitions as they prepare for upcoming FIFA International Friendlies. Currently in training camp, the team is blending seasoned players with fresh talent, including two players from the Under-16 and several from the Under-19 teams who have begun to make waves in the Women’s Super League.

Chua emphasizes the importance of gaining international experience, noting that consistent matches against foreign opponents are crucial for player development. “We really try to push hard to play the games because one of the things that is lacking is the experience to play internationally,” she shared, acknowledging that recent friendly games had exposed some players to nervousness.

The Kulas recently engaged in two practice matches against a visiting Vanuatu team, which provided an immediate platform to test the team dynamics and adapt under game conditions. Upcoming friendlies against Papua New Guinea on May 30 and June 2 are anticipated to serve as crucial opportunities for the squad to refine their skills and build confidence ahead of larger tournaments, including the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.

This preparation aligns with the broader goal of enhancing the visibility and performance of women’s football in Fiji. With strong support from the community and ambitions for international success, the Fiji Kulas are poised for an exciting journey, reflecting positive growth and unity in women’s sports in the region.

As the team gears up for these pivotal matches, fans and the wider community are encouraged to rally behind them, as their success could inspire future generations of female athletes in Fiji. The journey ahead is filled with potential, and the dedication of both players and coaching staff offers a hopeful outlook for the Fiji Kulas on the international stage.
