The Fiji Kulas women’s football team is diligently preparing for the OFC Women’s Nations Cup, set to kick off from July 4 to 19, 2025, in Fiji. Head coach Angeline Chua has selected a 23-player squad that combines experienced athletes and emerging talents, including five players based overseas. Among the key players is Trina Davis, a notable forward from the United States who had an impressive performance in the last tournament, alongside Preeya Singh, a rising midfielder from the University of California, Merced.
Chua emphasized the importance of focus, tactical unity, and physical fitness as the team trains intensively. “We are working a lot on getting everyone to think the same on the field regarding tactics, improving technique, and ensuring fitness is a priority,” she stated. The team is filled with enthusiasm as they aim to improve on their previous two finishes as runners-up and are determined to capture their first title on home soil.
The Kulas will face formidable opponents in Pool B, including Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu. The opening match against the Solomon Islands is scheduled for July 5, followed by games against Tonga on July 8 and Vanuatu on July 11 at the HFC Bank Stadium.
In addition to the experienced players, three athletes are set to make their senior international debuts, marking a significant moment for the team as they transition towards integrating fresh talent into the squad. This blend of experience and youth aims to provide a competitive edge as Fiji aims to elevate its standing in women’s football.
This OFC tournament not only serves as a stage for competition but is poised to inspire the next generation of female footballers in Fiji, pushing for greater recognition and support for women’s sports in the region. The growing interest in women’s football reflects a hopeful future, with the Kulas striving for success and supporting the advancement of women’s athletics in Fiji.
With robust training and a motivated squad, the Fiji Kulas are hopeful of making history at this tournament, bringing the excitement of international women’s football to their home ground.
