The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jerusalem has issued a security advisory for all Fijian nationals currently in Israel amid escalating military tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Ambassador Jesoni Vitusagavulu confirmed that air defense systems and sirens have been activated across central and southern Israel in response to multiple missile and drone launches. Fortunately, Israel’s layered defense systems are reported to remain operational.
The Embassy has assured that all Fijian nationals are safe, with no adverse impacts reported among Fijian students in Ramat Negev or personnel from the Embassy and their families in Jerusalem. In light of the current situation, the Embassy has enhanced its safety recommendations, urging all Fijians to adhere to shelter-in-place protocols and take refuge in reinforced safe rooms when sirens sound or alerts are issued.
Fijian nationals have been urged to prepare emergency “go-bags,” which should contain essential documents, medications, water, and other vital supplies. Additionally, the Embassy advised against proximity to military installations, government buildings, and large gatherings, while emphasizing the importance of relying on official updates from Israel’s Home Front Command.
The Fijian Mission is in constant communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade in Suva, as well as local security agencies. They have called upon Fijians to remain calm and support one another during this challenging time. This advisory reflects the Embassy’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Fijian citizens abroad during heightened security risks.
