The Fiji Football Association Women’s Inter-District Championship is set to commence at the academy ground in Vatuwaqa tomorrow, creating excitement among local football fans. The tournament will see Suva Women FC kick off their campaign against Labasa in a highly anticipated opening match.

Head Coach Savaira Ranatuniratu expressed confidence in her team’s readiness, despite the limited preparation time they’ve had following the holiday break. She acknowledged that while most of the players have returned, time is of the essence. Nevertheless, the squad is approaching this tournament with a serious mindset.

The Suva roster features a dynamic mix of seasoned players and emerging talent, as several young athletes have stepped up to fill gaps left by senior players’ absences at the start of the season. This decision to integrate Under-19 players has proven fruitful, culminating in a promising blend of energy and skill on the field.

Ranatuniratu anticipates that the IDC will pose a challenging test for her developing team as they face formidable opponents from various districts. The tournament schedule begins with Ba facing Rewa at 12pm, followed by Suva against Labasa at 2pm tomorrow.

Matches will unfold over the weekend, with additional rounds on Saturday and Sunday, promising an action-packed series for players and supporters alike. As the competition heats up, the aspirations of Suva Women FC and their opponents will be closely watched, creating an invigorating atmosphere for women’s football in Fiji.
