Weather Update from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, and boy is it a wet one!

As of 5:30 am on this fine Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, the entire Fiji group is under a Heavy Rain Alert! So grab your umbrellas and start practicing your best rain dance!

What’s happening? Well, there’s an active trough of low pressure rolling in from the west, ready to sprinkle some excitement across the islands from later today through Thursday. Just think of it as nature’s way of giving us a refreshing shower—or perhaps a thorough drenching!

For the rest of today, expect cloudy periods with brief showers in regions like Ba-Tavua-Vatukoula-Ra and others, but don’t worry, sunshine will be trying to peek through most other areas, at least until the afternoon when the sky decides to throw a rain party! Thunderstorms are also RSVP’d to that bash, arriving from the west and spreading their thunderous vibes across the country later in the day. Buckle up!

There’s a chance for frequent rain, and if we’re feeling particularly lucky, localized heavy falls may lead to some unintended swimming in low-lying areas. And if you like a good wind-whipped adventure, expect moderate winds that may decide to get fresh and gusty during the heavy falls—talk about a windy welcome!

**Outlook for Wednesday:** Rain might just want to stick around, with occasional heavy downpours and a sprinkle of thunderstorms thrown in for good measure. You might want to keep your floaties handy!

Let’s break it down by the region:

**For Navua/Suva/Nausori:** A mix of fine weather and afternoon thunderstorms. Min: 24, Max: 30.
**For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:** Cloudy with showers. Don’t leave home without an umbrella! Min: 23, Max: 31.
**For Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** Think cloudy with a splash of showers and a possible thunderstorm or two. Min: 23, Max: 31.
**For Labasa:** A peek of sunshine, then afternoon showers. Min: 22, Max: 31.
**For Savusavu:** More fine weather but with afternoon thunderstorms joining the fun. Min: 24, Max: 30.

With all this crazy weather, just remember to stay safe, keep an eye out for those sneaky puddles, and if you see any rainbows, feel free to send a postcard! Happy soggy season, everyone!
