Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025
Attention all Fiji island adventurers: A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is making itself at home across the entire Fiji Group! Please be sure to keep your umbrellas handy and maybe even a raincoat that doesn’t clash with your beachwear!
Right now, a cheeky trough of low pressure, accompanied by some moody clouds and rain, is making its way from the west and plans on sticking around through Thursday. So, if you were looking for a reason to binge-watch your favorite shows, here you go!
Here’s the scoop for the next day:
Expect partly cloudy skies with some brief showers and a promise of a possible afternoon thunderstorm over the western parts of Viti Levu (Rakiraki to Lautoka, all the way to Sigatoka), Yasawa, Mamanucas, and the western sections of Vanua Levu (including Macuata and northern Bua). Rain will be crashing the party tonight, with occasional heavy periods and a chance to hear nature’s symphony of thunderstorms.
For the rest of the islands, fine weather is playing the lead role, but there might be a cameo of isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. So keep your rain dance moves ready!
As we stroll into tomorrow, keep an eye out for sporadic rain, which could get heavy at times, along with a few thunderous surprises. Sadly, these heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, so don’t forget to check the odds of your dance shoes becoming waterlogged.
Wind lovers, be prepared for moderate to fresh north to northwest winds bringing in some dance-party breezes. Just remember, those seas will be moderate to rough, so if you’re planning on a boat ride, maybe consider a different activity – like watching the rain!
As for Thursday’s forecast: expect continued occasional rain, potentially heavy at times, and a chance for thunderstorms to further entertain you. Rain is expected to ease up later in the day, giving us a slight break—or maybe just a breather—before it ramps back up again.
