Weather Update
Hold on to your umbrellas, everyone! A heavy rain alert is still hanging out like an uninvited guest over the northern division, Yasawa, and Mamanuca groups, as well as the Tavua to Rakiraki areas. It seems the weather is in a bit of a moody phase, thanks to a productive trough of low pressure that just loves to rain on our parade—literally.
Today, from now until midnight, expect relentless bouts of rain, some heavy enough to challenge the most ambitious of water slides! We’re also looking at a chance of thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and their smaller buddies, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, along with Tavua and the Ra-Rakiraki duo. If you happen to find yourself in the Sigatoka-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba stretch, brace for some intermittent showers as well. What’s that? You’re seeking sunshine? Well, perhaps check back later—most other areas will enjoy some fine weather but prepare for those sneaky afternoon or evening showers.
A word to the wise: keep an eye out for those localised heavy falls that could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas looking for a swim in the rain. Winds are moderate but turning fresh in the north, while the seas may mimic a roller coaster ride for the adventurous sailors out there.
As we jump into Monday, expect more cloud cover and some showers across the usual suspects like Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, and others. Bua to Taveuni also looks like it could use some rain replenishment, while the rest maintain their sunny vibes with the occasional cli-max in the form of thunderstorms.
In Suva, Nausori and Navua, fine weather reigns supreme, but don’t be lured into a false sense of security—those afternoon storms are like surprise visits from your mother-in-law; they just might pop in unexpectedly!
Here’s where the gossip gets juicy by location:
For Natadradave/Korovou: Fine weather smiles upon you, but be prepared for those sneaky evening showers.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Don’t let occasional showers rain on your beach party—just bring your best rain dance moves!
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Showers are the plan, but that won’t stop you from getting a tan (you know, if you dance between the drops).
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional heavy rain and thunder will be the backdrop for your day—Might be a great excuse to stay in with popcorn and a good movie!
And for all you adventurous souls in Yasawa/Mamanuca: Heavy rain with some dramatic thunderclaps—the perfect weather for nesting!
Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti are all joining the rain party today too, but fear not: they expect clear skies by afternoon. And for those in Kadavu: fine weather is the star today but don’t be surprised by the unexpected sprinkling later!
Lastly, Rotuma is still catching droplets from that low-pressure trough, meaning occasional rain with some dramatic flair from thunderstorms might find their way to you as well.
As always, keep your sense of humor dry and your raincoat handy! Happy weathering!
