At 68 years old, Jiale Sarasau embodies the transformative power of perseverance, faith, and determination. Originally from Kadavu, he has made a new home in Suva, where he recently attended a significant milestone in his family’s life—his grandson Waisake Rawaitale’s Year 12 results collection at Lami High School.

Throughout his life, Sarasau has dedicated himself to working as a security guard, a profession he embraced in 2006 after relocating to Suva to create better opportunities for his family. Earning just over one hundred dollars a week, he has managed to raise his children and grandchildren primarily on his own. Despite the financial challenges, he has remained steadfast in his commitment to their education, believing it to be a critical investment in their futures.

Sarasau considers faith the cornerstone of his family’s values. He emphasizes the importance of three key priorities for their prayers: their work, their children’s education, and their home. His unwavering support for education has been a driving force, as he states, “I did not want to stop working. I continued so I can support their education.”

His inspiring journey highlights that through hard work and an indomitable spirit, one can overcome adversity and create a positive legacy for future generations. The story of Jiale Sarasau is a testament to the impact that dedication and belief can have in shaping the lives of those who follow.
