It was a bustling week at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva, where golfers participated in a series of competitions and friendly matches. The highlight of the week was the Stableford event held yesterday, marking the first of its kind for the year, which attracted 60 enthusiastic golfers to the tee.

On Friday, the club hosted its regular weekly competition sponsored by Goodman Fielder. Fourteen participants took to the course’s front nine holes, with Eroni Mavoa claiming first place with an impressive score of 20 points. Opetaia Ravai followed closely in second with 19 points, while Tom Managreve finished third with 17 points.

In addition to the Friday competition, Wednesday saw the Standss Beer Run meet take place, which gathered 20 golfers on the back nine holes. Ioane Sigarara emerged victorious with 19 points, with Lewis Sahai close behind in second place with 18 points, and Eroni Mavoa once again showcased his skills, landing in third with 17 points.

Reflecting on the previous week’s Goodman Fielder-sponsored competition, there were 34 participants, with George Nacewa leading the pack with a remarkable 39 points and Wilfred finishing second with 37 points.

This wave of activity at the golf club not only fosters a spirit of camaraderie among golfers but also contributes to the growing popularity of the sport in Fiji. With such enthusiastic participation, it is clear that the vibrant golfing community in Fiji is thriving, setting the stage for more exciting events in the future.
