Only 16 teams will compete in the 2025 RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings International Veterans’ Tournament, taking place from June 5 to 8 in Suva. This year will see eight teams in both the Over-40 and Over-45 categories, making for an exciting four days filled with competition and football nostalgia.
Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that players have the flexibility to choose their teams this year due to the delay in the Southern Veterans League. However, players currently under contract or who have previously received payment from clubs are restricted to remaining with their respective teams. “This protects clubs that have invested in their veteran talent,” Yusuf noted, adding that training has already begun for what promises to be a competitive and spirited tournament.
The Veterans’ Tournament will run concurrently with the BIC Fiji FACT finals, creating an exciting atmosphere for football fans who can indulge in high-quality matches and reminisce about the glory days while watching beloved former district stars.
This annual event goes beyond merely scoring goals; it emphasizes fitness, camaraderie, and the lasting passion for football among veteran players in Fiji.
In previous years, similar tournaments have highlighted the strong community ties within Fijian football, showcasing local talent and the exciting dynamics of the sport. With continued support from sponsors and the community, optimism abounds for another successful tournament, reinforcing both commemoration and competition in Fiji’s rich football culture.
