Motorists and households in Fiji will experience a slight increase in fuel prices starting New Year’s Day, as the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced a rise in costs for all major fuel products. The price of motor spirit will go up by 4 cents, reaching $2.61 per litre, while diesel will see an increase of 8 cents, bringing it to $2.35 per litre. Kerosene will see the most significant hike, with a 5.08 percent rise, leading to a new price of $1.86 per litre.

These adjustments are linked to unfavorable trends in international refined fuel prices and rising freight rates noted throughout November 2025, combined with a weakening US dollar, which have affected pricing structures domestically.

On a more positive note for consumers, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are set to decrease, providing some holiday relief. A 4.5kg LPG cylinder will now cost $13.33, while the 12kg cylinder will drop by 78 cents to $35.55. This price reduction is attributed to a 3.16 percent decrease in the Butane Contract Price, despite the ongoing higher international freight costs.

To ensure compliance with the new pricing regulations, the FCCC has confirmed that its enforcement teams will conduct inspections across the country. Consumers are encouraged to report any instances of overcharging or hoarding as a means of protecting themselves in this challenging economic environment.
