Timo Jankowski, the outgoing Technical Director of the Fiji Football Association, will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth leadership transition following his resignation, which he attributed to family commitments. Staying on until his move to Germany in May, Jankowski aims to help identify a qualified successor to lead the association’s development initiatives.
CEO Mohammed Yusuf expressed gratitude for Jankowski’s extensive contributions to grassroots football in Fiji. “We are grateful for Timo. Doors will be open for him should his situation change later; Fiji FA will always welcome him back because of the impact he has created in grassroots-level football,” said Yusuf, highlighting the solid foundation Jankowski has established during his tenure.
Jankowski’s departure occurs as the association plans to announce a new technical director soon, prioritizing a seamless transition that preserves the advancements made in Fijian football. Similar leadership changes underscore this evolution; for example, Jerry Sam recently resigned as head coach for Fiji Futsal and Beach Soccer, showing a pattern of growth in the organization.
His legacy includes the successful FIFA Football for Schools program, which integrated football into educational systems across Fiji, enhancing the physical activity of children in both urban and remote areas.
