The Fiji Football Association (FFA) has announced a new registration policy that mandates players to choose between football and futsal for the upcoming season. This rule, targeting club-level competitions, prohibits players from registering in both disciplines at the same time.

FFA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf stated that the decision is designed to bolster the long-term growth of both games. By encouraging players to focus exclusively on one code, the FFA aims to enhance their training, preparation, and overall development. This focused commitment is expected to uplift the standards of football and futsal in Fiji.

Yusuf emphasized that this policy applies primarily to club-level play, and individual member associations will have the discretion to implement or modify the policy in regional competitions. He urged member associations wishing to synchronize their competitions with FFA guidelines to formally inform the FFA Registration Department, ensuring the necessary adjustments are reflected in the COMET registration system.

This strategic initiative demonstrates the FFA’s commitment to advancing both football and futsal, encouraging players to invest their time and effort into one discipline and ultimately elevating the quality of play across the board. By fostering a more focused training environment, the organization hopes to see significant progress in these beloved sports in Fiji.
