The November Test matches represent a crucial step for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This sentiment was echoed by head coach Mick Byrne in an interview prior to the team’s departure from the country.

Byrne emphasized that the current squad features several experienced players who are nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have participated in three World Cups, and their legacy should be respected,” he stated.

He noted that this period presents an excellent opportunity to introduce new, talented players as part of their strategy for the upcoming World Cup in 2027. “We concluded the Pacific Nations Cup (PNC) on a high note, and it’s essential to end the year positively as well.”

Byrne explained that the team is set for an international tour that includes four Test matches, with three of those against prestigious Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. He mentioned that players based in Europe performed well last weekend, and those from the Fijian Drua squad have been actively engaged in their off-season training.

The Flying Fijians will kick off their tour with a match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. Next, they will travel to Cardiff on November 10 to take on Wales, followed by a match against Spain on November 17, and concluding with a test against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

In related news, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match have sold out.
