Heavy rainfall in Fiji’s Western Division has led to significant flooding, rendering several roads and river crossings inaccessible. Authorities are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution and to stay informed about changing conditions.

As of January 17, 2026, multiple locations, including Ba, Lautoka, and surrounding areas, are facing transportation challenges due to the flooding. Notably, Cemetery Road Crossing, Babariban Crossing, Marinitawa Crossing, Toge First Crossing, Etatoko Road, Sorokoba Road Crossing, Navala Road at Namau Crossing, Drasa Dam Road First Crossing, and Vakabuli Indian School Road Crossing have all become impassable.

Moreover, Varadoli Crossing in Ba is currently accessible only to four-wheel-drive vehicles due to elevated water levels, highlighting the ongoing challenges for road users in the region.

Authorities continue to advise residents and travelers to avoid flooded areas and to follow official updates to ensure their safety while navigating potential hazards on the roads. As weather conditions remain unpredictable, staying informed and prioritizing safety is crucial during this situation.
