Samuela Navitalai from Ratu Kadavulevu School and Claudie David of Suva Grammar School emerged as champions in their respective divisions of the 100m event at the 2025 Fiji Finals held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Navitalai clocked a remarkable time of 10.83 seconds to secure gold in the boys’ final, while David finished strong with a time of 12.63 seconds, earning her the top spot in the girls’ competition.

In the boys’ category, silver was claimed by Setareki Saukilagi of Queen Victoria School, with Paula Vonolagi from Suva Grammar School taking home the bronze medal. On the girls’ side, the podium was rounded out by Mahatma Gandhi’s Losalini Raikadroka, who took silver, and Imeri Nasali from Adi Cakobau School, who secured bronze after a strong showing in the heats.

The competition’s medal standings highlight the ongoing effort and dedication from various schools, with Marist Brothers High School leading the boys’ tally with three gold, three silver, and one bronze. Following closely is Ratu Kadavulevu School with a similar count of three golds, and Suva Grammar School sitting third with two golds and a variety of other medals. In the girls’ division, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School leads with six gold medals, showcasing the depth of talent within their ranks.

Looking ahead, day two promises exciting events including the finals for intermediate boys’ javelin, girls’ discus, and the sub-junior boys’ high jump, culminating with the finals of the 400m and 4x100m relays.

These championships not only celebrate the individual achievements of young athletes but also foster a sense of community and pride in Fiji’s sporting culture.
