The Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has announced that its primary objective for this year is to educate the youth on the teachings of the Vedas while simultaneously tackling the escalating social issues faced by communities. Sabha Patron Pundit Bhuvan Dutt highlighted that challenges such as drug abuse and violence are contributing to increased suffering within society.
Dutt remarked on the religious body’s responsibility to provide guidance through knowledge and values as a means to combat these pressing concerns. He emphasized that while addressing social issues is a complex task, many of the associated hardships can be alleviated through dedicated efforts beginning at the family level.
The Sabha underlines the significant role of parents and households in instilling the right values in their children. In his statements, Dutt mentioned, “After doing so much of normal education, academic education, we are now looking at some social issues that we can contribute to as an NGO. Therefore, that is our focus for 2026.”
He further noted that intertwining social challenges with spiritual education will be a crucial component of their initiatives in the coming year. This commitment to both education and social responsibility aligns with thoughts expressed by Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, President of the Methodist Church in Fiji, who stressed the importance of collaboration among different religious groups to address similar social issues.
Both organizations advocate for unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility among faith-based communities, recognizing that collective action is vital in confronting the challenges that society faces. By focusing on both spiritual and practical education, these institutions aim to foster a more harmonious and supportive environment for the youth and their families.
