Fiji will compete in Group D alongside Argentina, Belgium, and Tunisia in the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup slated to be held in Qatar from November 3 to 27, 2024. This marks a challenging draw for the team, which is coached by Sunil Kumar. The Oceania champions secured their place in the World Cup after a significant victory against Tahiti in the semifinals of the OFC U-16 Men’s Championship.

The competition expanded this year to include 48 teams, divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage, which begins with the Round of 32.

New Zealand, another representative from Oceania, will compete in Group L against Mali, Austria, and Saudi Arabia after claiming the OFC title. They defeated Fiji in the championship match 3-1, with a notable performance showcasing their offensive prowess, particularly from players like Aaron Cartwright who scored early in the game.

Fiji’s journey to the World Cup is a significant achievement for the national team. Their recent matches display a growing talent pool and competitiveness on the international stage, promising an exciting experience for both players and fans in Qatar.

As the tournament approaches, the focus will be on how these teams adapt to high-level competition and represent Oceania with pride. Fans will surely look forward to witnessing their nation’s youngsters shine on such a grand stage.
