Emergency operations centers in the Western Division of Fiji are set to remain active as the Fiji Meteorological Service has forecasted ongoing rainfall throughout the weekend.
Apolosi Lewaqai, the Divisional Commissioner for the Western region, has urged the public to take necessary precautions due to the expected continuation of rain. In response to earlier flooding, relief efforts have been initiated, resulting in food rations being distributed to 61 families currently housed in evacuation centers located at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.
Various faith-based organizations, non-governmental groups, and local businesses, alongside the Ministry of Health, have collaborated to support the displaced families by providing donated cooked meals, bottled water, and essential food and hygiene supplies.
