The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has officially moved its Elite Academy program to the Fiji FA Academy in Ba, a strategic decision aimed at centralizing talent development and enhancing access to state-of-the-art facilities. Originally launched in Labasa earlier this year, this initiative emphasizes the association’s commitment to nurturing young football talent across the nation.

Sunil Kumar, the Head of Talent Development at Fiji FA, announced that 26 promising players born between 2008 and 2010 have been selected to participate in the elite training camp, which is set to begin next Monday. These players were identified through a comprehensive nationwide scouting and development process, showcasing some of the brightest talents in Fijian football.

Kumar also mentioned that a FIFA Development Coach is expected to join the program soon, further enriching the training experience. The focus of the academy is to develop players holistically, ensuring that attention is given not only to their football skills but also to their discipline, education, and character.

This move reflects the ongoing trend in Fijian sports, where similar foundational programs have been established to enhance youth engagement and talent development. The investment from Fiji FA indicates a strong commitment to fostering a new generation of athletes ready to represent Fiji at higher levels, both nationally and internationally. By centralizing these resources and expertise, the Fiji FA is creating a positive environment for the future of football in the region.

The commitment to building robust foundations for young athletes may inspire the next generation of football stars, reinforcing the importance of structured training and mentorship in the growth of sports in Fiji.
