A two-day Football Management Certificate Seminar under the Oceania Football Confederation’s (OFC) education pathway began today (March 13, 2026) at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel, bringing senior departmental leaders from the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) together for intensive training aimed at strengthening the federation’s leadership and operational capacity.
The workshop, which runs through tomorrow, has gathered Heads of Departments from across the Fiji FA for sessions focused on governance, administration and management. Organisers say the seminar is designed to build the professional capacity of football administrators — equipping them with tools and practical approaches to improve decision-making, internal operations and long-term planning within the association and across the Oceania region.
Over the two days participants will take part in facilitated discussions and learning activities that emphasise good governance practices and effective operational management. The programme forms part of the OFC education pathway and offers an accredited Football Management Certificate on completion, signalling OFC’s push to professionalise administration as well as coaching across member nations.
The seminar is the latest in a series of OFC-supported capacity-building initiatives in Fiji. Earlier this month a separate OFC B-licence coaching course was under way at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba, reflecting a dual focus on improving technical coaching standards and strengthening administrative leadership. The broader regional context also includes the OFC’s 2024 partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on capacity building, which has helped shape management curriculum and resource sharing for smaller associations.
For the Fiji FA, the training comes at a time when more robust governance and clearer operational structures are being prioritised to manage domestic competitions, development programmes and international commitments. Strengthening administrative systems can also improve transparency, resource allocation and readiness for events and tournaments that involve Fiji’s national teams and clubs.
Organisers expect the seminar’s immediate outcomes to include updated governance frameworks, clearer role definitions for department heads and practical action plans to implement back at the Fiji FA. The certificate workshop underscores OFC’s strategy of developing football holistically in the Pacific by investing in both people who coach on the field and those who run the game behind the scenes.
