The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Abu Dhabi has issued a public advisory for Fijians residing and working in the United Arab Emirates and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, urging them to take precautionary measures amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. This advisory comes in light of the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, with the Embassy emphasizing that the safety and well-being of Fijian nationals remains its utmost priority.
Fijians in the UAE and GCC nations, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, have been advised to shelter in place when necessary, remain indoors, and fully comply with directives from local authorities. They are also encouraged to avoid any non-essential travel to ensure their safety.
In its statement, the Embassy indicated that it is actively collaborating with local authorities in the UAE and other accredited countries to closely monitor the situation and respond to any emerging risks. The Embassy is working in coordination with its headquarters in Suva and the Fiji Mission in Israel to stay updated on regional security developments.
The Embassy has called upon the Fijian community to remain calm, vigilant, and attentive to official communications, noting that the current guidance is purely precautionary. It has also reassured Fijians that should the need for evacuation or further action arise, prompt and clear instructions will be communicated to them.
Reiterating its commitment to the safety of all Fijians living and working throughout the UAE and the wider Gulf region, the Fiji Embassy in Abu Dhabi remains dedicated to protecting the welfare of its nationals during these challenging times. This proactive approach underscores the importance of community safety and unity amidst global uncertainties.
