The escalating drug crisis in Fiji has become more than a national security challenge; it is now viewed as a matter of national survival, according to Faith Harvest Church Senior Pastor Manasa Kolivuso. Speaking at the National Pastoral Response to Drugs workshop in Suva, he emphasized the urgent need for a large-scale and coordinated response to this pressing issue.
Pastor Kolivuso underlined that the drug epidemic in Fiji has reached a critical point that calls for immediate and robust action. He noted that this cannot be tackled in isolation, urging a united front to address the crisis effectively. “We cannot curb this rising issue in a smaller way; we have to work together,” he stated, expressing his hopes for the two-day event to spark a national collaborative effort. This partnership would involve not just the government, but also local communities, NGOs, civil societies, and churches coming together to confront the drug problem.
The workshop aims to foster collaboration across all sectors, with the goal of developing practical solutions to the worsening drug issue in the country. By bringing various stakeholders together, there is a hopeful outlook that collective action can make a significant impact in combatting this critical challenge facing Fiji.
