The Fiji 7s rugby team delivered a stunning performance against Argentina, winning decisively with a score of 43-21 to secure their place in the gold medal final at the HSBC Dubai 7s tournament.
Fiji showcased their dominance on the field by scoring seven tries compared to Argentina’s three. They effectively controlled the game’s pace, leading with an impressive 21-7 at halftime. The team displayed a well-organized defense and maintained steady possession throughout the match.
The scoring began early with George Bose crossing the try line in the second minute, followed by Joji Nasova just two minutes later. Captain Jeremaia Matana added another try in the seventh minute. Filipe Sauturaga contributed significantly with three successful conversions.
After the break, Nasova extended Fiji’s lead with another try at the nine-minute mark, quickly followed by Pilipo Bukayaro’s try just a minute later. Ilikimi Vunaki added yet another try in the 11th minute, and Terio Veilawa rounded off the scoring in the 13th minute, with Iowane Teba converting one of those tries.
While Argentina fought back with tries from Santiago Mare, Marcos Moneta, and Luciano Gonzalez, their efforts fell short against Fiji’s relentless attack, which included conversions from Joaquin Pellandini, Santiago Vera Feld, and Gonzalez.
