The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is enhancing trade efficiency and transparency by fostering stronger partnerships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and authorized clerks. During a recent Customs Brokers Forum, key developments in customs operations were presented, covering topics such as cargo manifest registration, trade analysis, standards, and the penalty matrix.

The forum was designed to ensure that brokers are well-prepared to facilitate compliant and streamlined import-export processes, crucial for maintaining a smooth flow of goods. FRCS Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry stakeholders in safeguarding borders and promoting legitimate trade, which is essential for driving economic growth.

Singh stated, “We cannot achieve our mandate in isolation. Collaboration, dialogue, and partnership are essential to building a customs environment that is fair, efficient, and responsive to global trade demands.” He reiterated FRCS’s dedication to transparency, service excellence, and digital transformation as part of their modernization efforts in trade systems.

Ruwel Lal, President of the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council, commended this collaborative approach, highlighting the significant role brokers play as trusted intermediaries within the global supply chain. He noted the necessity for brokers to adapt to innovation and automation while upholding high professional standards.

This commitment to collaboration and improvement not only strengthens the customs environment in Fiji but also positions the country favorably within global trade networks, promising enhanced efficiency and economic development.
