Two prison officers have been dismissed following their involvement in a recent drug-related incident that underscores the stringent policies upheld by the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS). The officers were identified during a police operation at a premises functioning as a drug laboratory.
During the raid, law enforcement officials uncovered a cache of items typically associated with drug production, including digital weighing scales, plastic film sealers, and zip-lock plastic bags with residues believed to be methamphetamine. This discovery prompted immediate action from the FCS, highlighting its zero-tolerance stance against any misconduct by its staff.
Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa, the Commissioner of Corrections, reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
