Officers from the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID) have been actively involved in cataloguing and unpacking a significant cache of drugs suspected to be cocaine, seized in Vatia, Tavua. The drugs, which are packed in over 100 sacks, are being treated as key pieces of evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Sources from Fiji Times indicate that access to the area where the drugs are secured at the Ba Police Station is tightly controlled. Only senior officers and essential investigators are permitted near the location, underscoring the sensitive nature of the operation, which is protected by a heavy security perimeter.

Fiji Police confirmed that four South American nationals, who hold Ecuadorian passports, along with two local suspects, were apprehended during a drug raid conducted early in the morning within Vatia waters. Notably, one of the local suspects is identified as a carrier operator based in Ba.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu reported that the haul included more than 100 bags containing parcels believed to be cocaine. He highlighted that this successful operation resulted from robust cooperation between local and international law enforcement agencies. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, with authorities working diligently to uncover further details and connections related to the case.

This operation exemplifies the effective collaboration between local and foreign entities in battling drug-related crime, showcasing a commitment to maintaining community safety and upholding the law.
